Let’s be real — figuring out what you want to do with your life after college can feel completely overwhelming. One minute you’re cramming for finals, and the next, everyone’s asking you what your “plan” is. (Cue existential dread.)
At uNeed A Coach, we work with college students and recent grads who are smack in the middle of this exact stage — unsure of their next step, second-guessing themselves, and trying to make sense of all the options out there. Sound familiar?
Good news: You don’t have to have it all figured out. But with the right structure and support, you can make progress — one step at a time.
Here’s how our coaches help you go from “I have no clue” to “Okay, I got this.”
1. Start With Self-Discovery
We kick things off by helping you figure out what actually lights you up.
Through personality tests, strengths assessments, and values inventories, you’ll get clearer on what makes you you. We talk through your answers together to uncover patterns and get curious about what motivates you, excites you, and helps you thrive.
2. Explore Your Options
Once you know what you care about, we’ll brainstorm career paths that align with your unique strengths and interests.
That could mean exploring industries, roles, or even companies that sound kinda cool — no pressure to commit. We’ll also show you how to set up low-stakes conversations (hello, informational interviews) with people doing things you’re curious about.
3. Set Realistic Goals
Big goals can feel paralyzing. So we help you break them down into bite-sized, doable steps using our go-to goal-setting method: SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound).
It’s like turning “get a job” into “send 3 applications this week.” Small wins lead to big momentum.
4. Make an Action Plan
You’ll work with your coach to build a plan that’s customized to you — whether that means updating your resume, building a LinkedIn profile, researching internships, or starting that dream side hustle.
We’ll keep things focused, flexible, and way less scary.
5. Build In-Demand Skills
Not sure if you’ve “got what it takes” yet? No worries. We’ll help you figure out which skills are in demand in the fields you're eyeing — and point you to courses, events, or volunteer gigs where you can start sharpening those skills (without having to pay thousands for a grad degree).
6. Learn to Network (Without Cringing)
Yes, networking is important. No, it doesn’t have to be awkward.
We’ll walk you through how to reach out to people authentically, make a strong impression, and feel less weird at events or on LinkedIn. We’ll even role-play scenarios so you feel ready to go when the time comes.
7. Tackle Fear and Self-Doubt
Fear of rejection. Impostor syndrome. Total analysis paralysis.
We get it — these feelings are normal. But they don’t have to run the show. We’ll teach you tools to reframe negative thoughts, build confidence, and stay calm under pressure. (Mindfulness, visualization, and even journaling might come into play.)
8. Stay Accountable
Your coach is here to keep you on track — with regular check-ins, gentle nudges, and a lot of encouragement. Life gets busy. We’ll help you stay focused on what matters and adjust the plan when needed.
9. Explore Non-Traditional Paths
Don’t want a 9-to-5? That’s okay!
We’ll help you consider options like freelancing, entrepreneurship, gap years, or continuing your education. The world of work is changing, and there’s no one “right” way to start your career.
10. Reflect + Adapt As You Go
The truth? Your career path probably won’t be a straight line. That’s totally normal.
We’ll teach you how to reflect on your experiences — the wins and the flops — so you can learn and pivot with purpose. You’ll build a growth mindset that will serve you long after our coaching sessions end.
You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone
At uNeed A Coach, we guide you through the messy middle of early adulthood with compassion, structure, and a game plan.
We’re here to help you build confidence, take meaningful action, and create a future that actually feels like yours — not someone else’s idea of success.
